ANTI-PIRACY : BENEFITS

Relona's anti-piracy system allows software and media to be ported from one computer or device to another. This simple feature has important ramifications as discussed below:

Digital Media and e-Books

Music tracks can be sold DRM-free because music files are relatively inexpensive - less than $1 a song. But movies and eBooks are typically priced at $10-$20. Publishers do not want to sell such digital goods DRM-free. But buyers are not enthusiastic about media that expires when their computer or device crashes.

Relona's technology allows buyers of digital media to preserve their videos and e-books indefinitely. They can transfer media from one device to another. If one device crashes, they can reinstall their media onto another device.

But buyers will not be able to install the same media onto more than one device. They will not be able to give copies of their media to their friends.

Relona's anti-piracy system preserves the rights of both buyers and sellers. The buyers retain their right to enjoy the media indefinitely on a variety of devices. The sellers are compensated fairly for their creative work.

Computer Software

When a computer containing hardware-activated software crashes, the user must call each software vendor to get the software re-activated on a new computer. This is expensive for both the user as well as the vendors. The user wastes time. The vendors have to pay for 24x7 tech-support to process the re-activations.

Relona's system avoids these problems. If a computer containing software protected by Relona were to crash, the user can reinstall their software onto a new machine without any re-activation process. But Relona's system will prevent them from using the software on more than one machine. At some later point in time, if the crashed computer were to be fixed, Relona's system will ask the user to uninstall the software either from the old machine or from the new one.
